Wireless Generation Receives SIF Certification Schools Can Seamlessly Share Data Between
Wireless Generation and Other SIF-Compliant Education Software
“Educators need high quality data about students' ongoing development in order to deliver effective instructional programs. Teachers and administrators must have the ability to exchange data seamlessly and deliver just the right information to the classroom at just the right time,” said Larry Berger, co-founder and CEO of Wireless Generation. “SIF certification is one part of Wireless Generation's overall strategy to make student data as instructionally useful as possible. We applaud the work of SIF and urge schools and vendors to participate in this important standard.” Educators often face a challenge in implementing technology in schools and districts because many available applications are not interoperable. These applications are either closed systems or systems that only permit access through interfaces and data formats that were developed for use on specific hardware and are not supported by any other company. Because of the lack of interoperability, teachers, school administrators, and other school personnel often face redundant and error-laden data entry, inaccessible data, and disorganized reports. In addition, they spend more money integrating data between the different applications. SIF-compliant companies, such as Wireless Generation, help to reduce those problems by making it possible for software programs from different companies to share information without any additional programming by the local school or district. Wireless Generation’s mCLASS system is SIF-Certified and meets the conformance requirements for SIF-enabled applications. mCLASS products are handheld computer-to-Web versions of common early reading assessments including DIBELS®, TPRI®, Tejas LEE®, PALS™, and reading records, as well as CIRCLE™ preK portfolio building tools. The company is also creating an mCLASS early math assessment. The mCLASS system streamlines the process of giving assessments, and makes data more useful with the immediate delivery of handheld- and Web-based reports on a student, class, school, or district, and additional support for translating data into instructional decisions.
