North Carolina Diagnostic Assessment for Reading

Rigby Ultra Written Comprehension Materials

In response to feedback that we received from schools last year, we are pleased to announce that new TRC Written Comprehension items are now available. These questions are closely aligned to Common Core standards and have been subjected to several rounds of review by both DPI and an LEA review committee. In addition, we are excited to report that exemplars have been created for the books to assist in the scoring process. Moving forward, we ask that all TRC administrations utilize the new questions and exemplars; the older questions should no longer be used in benchmark administration.

You do not need to be concerned if you have students that have already been assessed at BOY with the 2010-2011 questions. Both the old and new versions are using the same rubric (0-3) and should not create any significant disparities in scoring. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the new questions and exemplars, please contact Blake Bryan at bbryan@wgen.net.
