DIBELS Aim Line test

The DIBELS® aim line is a line graph that represents the rate of improvement that a student must make in order to meet the benchmark or progress monitoring target in the DIBELS assessment.  The DIBELS aim line shows a student's progress toward the benchmark goal from interval to interval by plotting the student's score on the previous assessment period to the target for the next period.

The graph shows the student's overall progress toward the benchmark goal and there are various symbols on the DIBELS aim line that indicate the student's progress:

 The green target symbol indicates the score the student should reach at the end of the next benchmark.

 The green circle represents the intermediate goal for measuring progress.

 The purple squares indicate an assessment that the student has been given.

 The dots on the graph are data points that indicate student scores.

 

Each data point on the DIBELS aim line represents a benchmark or progress monitoring assessment. Data points above the DIBELS aim line indicate adequate progress. Points below the line indicate insufficient progress.  As a general rule, three data points below the aim line mean additional or modified intervention and support are needed for the student to reach the goal.
