ARIS

A Model Instructional Improvement System

First-in-Class

The New York City Department of Education’s Achievement Reporting and Innovation System (ARIS) is the next generation of IIS.

ARIS makes all kinds of student data available and coherent to city educators, from attendance and transfer history to grades and state test scores, for the purpose of promoting student learning.

An integrated set of tools fosters cross-city professional collaborations, enabling teachers to benefit from the collective wisdom of their colleagues.

Wireless Generation and ARIS

Wireless Generation led the ARIS development, including data integration, permissioning, usability and reporting and Web 2.0 collaboration tools, and helped New York City roll out the system to more than 90,000 educators serving 1.1 million students.

In spring 2009, ARIS Parent Link online walkthroughs were launched in 9 languages to give parents unprecedented ability to engage in their children’s education with easy-to-understand access to their children’s data.

To support ARIS users, we created and delivered a training program to 1,497 schools, school support organizations and networks, as well as critical stakeholders such as union officials and parent coordinators. We continue to work closely with the New York City Department of Education on ARIS.
